Meet Karina Bertechine
Karina Bertechine is a birth doula, also a Biologist with a Phd in Science. Becoming a mother changed Karina's world in all the possible ways. This life event changed her dreams, perspectives, circumstances, ideas and most importantly, even changed herself in so many ways. Karina did not have the birth experience she was expecting and desiring. The fact of not having a safe environment and support for her and her husband brought her to this amazing journey of becoming a Doula. She got deeper in her studies and became passionate about the power of this profession and how important and beautiful it is to help families in this most important life event.
Karina is that type of person that passionately donates herself in any situation. She shares her unconditional love both in her professional and personal life. People who know Karina will tell you that she has this particular patience and attention to any person. She listens carefully and has a deep compassion in her heart. She is committed, whatever the cause is. She can easily connect with people from different cultures, lifestyles and beliefs. She will definitely recognise your needs and give her unconditional support on your journey to birth fearless and with power.

Karina loves biology, nature and the physiology of human body. She is an excellent teacher and loves sharing knowledge and giving lectures about different biological contents. She is a doctor in science and as a scientist, she knows that all nature processes take time and attention, and have their own proper way to happen, just like birth. Karina loves research work and got used to work with hands-on and with the highest ethical standards. She is a mother, so she is an extremely flexible person and she will always find time to help and be there!
Motherhood was Karina's kick-off to becoming a Doula. In 2021 she decided to follow her heart calling, left her academic career and became a professional expat doula. Karina is an expat too! She is naturally Brazilian and has been living abroad for 6 years. She moved to London in 2016 with her husband to finish part of her PhD and they moved to the Netherlands in 2017. She feels blessed and grateful for her family, husband and son! Together, they love to picnic and explore the beautiful The Hague places by bike. That's how they connect and slow down from the busy daily life.
